Singin' in the rain Jr

Scenic Designer - Props Master - Paint Charge - CCM Prep Department 2017

Production Photos

Singin' In the Rain Jr. is the junior stage adaptation to the hit 1952 film staring Gene Kelley and Debbie Reynolds. The story follows a silent film production company in their struggles with transitioning to sound.

Research

The set design for this production needed to be a multi-use single set. To add a light, fun feeling the set design was made to resemble movie set pieces found around a movie backlot.

Renderings

Each of the 6 scenes was rendered and illustrated to help the visualization of the final product throughout the process.

Initial Concept

The original concept featured an asymmetrical design, but was changed to a symmetrical design to aid the actors in blocking.

Draftings

6 designers plates were created in AutoCAD to detail the walls and floor.

Painters Elevations

15 painters elevations and a forced perspective "cheat sheet" were created to detail the walls, props, and an extensive breakdown of the floor.
